GM recalls big vans, SUVs because gear can fail...........

The Associated Press

Date: Saturday Mar. 24, 2012

DETROIT — General Motors is recalling more than 6,000 big vans and SUVs because their steering can fail.

The recall affects certain 2012 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans, and Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL SUVs.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its website Saturday that a gear shaft can break, causing a loss of steering. GM says no crashes or injuries have been reported.

They are fixing it. Something Toyota doesn't do without misleading delay.

Guess Honda can't design well either:

Honda can't get doors to close on 2012 CR-Vs and 2013 ILXs.

Yep, only took 172000 vehicles to figure out a problem, got to love that quality in Japanese vehicles.

GM sells cheap, too sell more, but then you get what you pay for, then you pay for it again when your taxes bail out GM!

They can fix them fast like most do or

delay, lie and deny like Toyota did on their accelerators.

"Good point bluenvoy!"

How come it's not a good point when I or someone like weaslespit mention the same thing? All car companies are subject to recalls.

Are you twelve years old?

Honda Recalls CR-V to Fix Control-Arm Problem :

By Jake Lingeman
By AutoWeek Fri 8:30 AM

Honda is recalling CR-V's to inspect and possibly replace the right-front lower control arm.Honda says that the part could have been made with an improper welding process. Over time the control arm could break at the weld. If that happens the steering would be affected, possibly resulting in a crash.

***
You dont think this welding problem could happen to other Hondas too?
Many share same parts!

"Can" fail is the key word and it's no different from the part that Honda is replacing on the CR-V's that could(key word "could) cause major problems.

I've not heard of anyone actually experiencing said problem, on either vehicle. Good for both GM and Honda for taking care of the problem.

Sounds like poor engineering design/testing. Hopefully, they will manage to get them all fixed

I am sure since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has got involved GM will fix the problem....

Never had problems with my Fords, and I've owned and driven alot of them. I know I'd feel uneasy behind the wheel of a Honda that might loose steering!
