Ford never filed for bankruptcy and took bailout money. Reducing their credit rating to junk status should never have happend.

"Ford was the only of The Detroit Three to avoid filing for bankruptcy protection and getting government bailouts to keep going." The Ford money crunchers saw the writing on the wall soon enough and took the necessary actions to avoid needing a government bailout. Give credit where credit is due.

Ford on the other hand rolled up there sleeves, broke out the coffee, and got after it! They should be proud. On a cynical note, wonder how long it will be before the unions start raising cane about how Ford did it on the backs of American Workers and demamding more mulah!...Just Sayin...

Ford took on a huge amount of private debt before the economy tanked. When GM and Chrysler tried the same thing months later, no one would loan them money other than the government. Ford's is turning a corner, and this debt upgrade is indicative of that.
