BLAIR, Neb. (AP) -- Executives with the Danish firm that invested $200 million in a new enzyme plant in Nebraska praised the U.S. government's continued support for biofuels.

Novozymes celebrated the completion of the plant near Blair on Wednesday.

The plant employs about 100 people to make enzymes that help break down the starch in corn or another feedstock, which is a vital part of ethanol production

"US support for industry" "U.S. government's continued support for biofuels."

Why not thank the U.S. people instead of the government? After all it is our tax dollars that are actually supporting the effort. After all when did it become 'We the government of these United States'?

As much as I like seeing 100 people with work I would much rather see the Ethanol gone to someplace that really wants it. It just does not work. There was an article that would could not respond to for whatever dumb reason that was touting the biofuels. Reading behind the lines it was bragging about how much money corn farmers are making. They failed to say how much it was costing the American public in higher food prices and higher fuel prices. It is amazing how they brag about a product that was thought to be so great that it fooled the representatives and now that they know it is trash the representatives do not have the cojones to do the right thing and dump it.

Ethanol is bad. Corn is for eating. Why are we subsidizing a Dutch firm?

$200 million dollar plant that only employs 100 people? And the article doesn't cover where these people that are employed are from.

Giving tax money to a Danish firm seems on par with giving tax money to Fiskars to build their EVs in Finland!!!

Humblepie...It actually "extortionists"....whatever that means.

This is an example of private investment. How can we say it is Welfare, or handouts to this Danish firm? Did anyone read the article?

I hardly think we should look 100 new jobs in the mouth...unless we are against job deveopment!

Of course they'll praise US (taxpayer) support for their industry. Without taxpayer money, the industry would collapse on its debt.

Let them fail so we can use the corn and other stock materials for our food chain.
