When it comes to report cards often there's a lot of good things that may be concealed if you look only at the overall grade... that was a message I frequently attempted to share long ago with my parents, albeit unsuccessfully.

Having said that, you may be surprised to learn that Subaru for the first time has earned the top score in Consumer Reports' automaker report cards for 2012.

Subaru's score of 75, up two points from last year, reflects better scores for redesigned models such as the Impreza, Legacy and Outback. The 2012 Subaru Impreza which Consumer reports just tested, now tops the small sedan class and is Consumer Reports' top pick in the category. Subaru's average road test score of 82 is the highest in the...

One of the best small cars on the road. Good quality, construction, and reliability. Decent gas mileage for AWD

Subaru is a one of the safest, best made vehicles on the road. They drive better than some cars twice their size. Reliable and good in all sorts of bad weather.

Consumer Report's is good to find out if the radio works or the cigarette light works, not much more than that

Consumer Report's on automaker cars is a JOKE!! Half of the time they don't even bother to test them. They go on how the COMPANY USE TO DO!

Just look at their history of TOYota for the past couple of years.

Subaru does little for this country directly. They still send most of their taxes back to the country of origin. The only benefit to this country is the taxes from the workers and they are likely low paying jobs for assemblers.

“Where are Honda and Toyota?”

Try reading the article; chances are you will learn something.

Subaru has made excellent vehicles for decades and they set the standard for all-wheel drive. I still use my 1981 GL wagon around the farm, although we quit licensing it 20 years ago. Our 2010 Forester has been almost entirely satisfactory.

Very interesting article. I believe this Pipeline should be built, something always stands in the way. This latest story does not surprise me at all.

I bought one of the earliest Toyota's to come to this country in the late 1960's and I knew it was a risk. Turns out they did pretty good. I wish the same for Subaru.

Consumers Report must have had the only good one they made because our customers complain continually about lack of quality and dependability when they bring them into our shop. Most say they would never buy another one.

I've got 3 of 'em! Still driving my original '92 Legacy, 246K still on original clutch!, '01 outback with 150K and my wife's cushy '06 Legacy LTD. MY wifes previous car? a 94 Legacy with 176K running great till some schmuck slammed her at a red light, and it did its job then too keeping the passenger compartment intact.
