How about getting the government out of it. If the government was not involved with its import tariff, we could buy ethanol for $0.54/gallon less.

Depends on who's developing new technology: oil companies or independent research firms

Why would an oil (energy) company want to develope alternative energy? This country has known the need for alternative energy since the 70's. Tax cuts is not the answer.

The people favoring tax cuts for the energy corporations obviously do not know the enormous tax breaks they are already receiving. My reply is NO TAX CUTS FOR THE CORPS.

As a consumer I would love to see prices come down, due to new technologies producing clean and endless energy. As an employee for a firm that designs and engineers wind farms for energy companies, I'd be crazy not to.

Absolutely. The increasing fuel prices will be never ending. If corporations have funds earmarked for alternatvie research and development, they will be inclined to change from oil.

There is too much of the pork barrel stuff in government and that is not good for the taxpayers.

Last time my boss wanted me to make something, I had to work my tail off THEN got a bonus. The government can basically be seen as there boss.. so why should he pay them BEFORE the work is done? If its to convince them to do it.. well thats simple. Developing natural powers means greatly reducing smog, which in turn will save many children from childhood illnesses (asthma for one) and greatly reducing the amount of destroyed vegitation each year due to polutants, to name a few. If THAT isnt enough to convince them, they sure as hell shouldnt recieve a penny!
