there are SOME stations where gas is better than others. Mostly b/c their inventory turn around is either fast or slow, thus, water can accumulate in the fuel.

I do notice a difference between some of the stations. It might be due to some additives or I imagine some older stations might have water leaking into their tanks. I think it is best to do your own evaluations. You must be careful though, as the type of driving will have the greatest impact.

I go to the cheapest gas station in my area. Most of the gasoline is from the same refinery and with the same standards and requirements. The gasoline here comes from Washington refineries in the Puget Sound area. Gas is Gas! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible! The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Remember when dealers added their own lead tetraethyl? And premium gasoline was called (don't look) Ethyl?

My Grandpa delivered gas to stations...it is the same gas, but the different stations add diff things to it (sometimes increasing volume, with less gas actually pumped) to give you diff mpg results. That's why I use GB fuelbook and also calculate my mpg on my own, and determine which stations work best in my car.

The basic "green gas" is the same but the differences come from the proprietary formula each branded station uses... Costco claims 5 times the detergent requirement, Shell touts it's nitrogen enriched formula, Marathon uses STP additives, etc. I'd love to see a test on whose gas is best. There's even something called "top tier" gas (google it) that meets additional requirements.

wellllll talking about bread prices,i use to be able to get a real loaf of bread(whole wheat split top) for a dollar at the local hostess thrift shop, but now that they can't compete because of gas prices and they consolidated most of their stores or moved them out of the area i have to pay $1.50 for a fake loaf of bread, starched, bleached, processed to death and that's at wally world and krogers.

So why do people fill up at a high priced station, when across the street or down the block is another with lower prices?

When it all comes from the same pipeline, it is hard to claim that one brand is better than another. Normally the cheaper brand works best.

So is Becky implying that Costco has more tank capacity at their single location than other large department/grocery stores? Hard to believe Costco tanks would be that much larger to reflect such a price difference.
