US cleanest natural gas plant to be built in Temple, Texas

Examiner -- Panda Power Funds, a Dallas power plant developer, announced Thursday that they have secured financing for a 758-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant to be built in the small Central Texas town of Temple. The natural gas plant scheduled to be on line in 2014, will power approximately 750,000 homes in Central and North Texas, and be among the cleanest fossil-fuel generating plants in the U.S.

"The plant will provide power necessary to locate future industries and jobs in the Central Texas area, and enhance Temple's economy in the near term as well", said Temple Mayor Bill Jones.

According to an analysis by Impact Data Source of Austin the Temple plant is expected to bring $1.6 billion into the area's economy during the construction and the plant's first 10 years of operation, employing

What happens when more and more power plants and vehicles use natural gas and the supply goes down. Will the cost of natural gas start costing more and more? Use the sun for renewable energy from solar, wind, hydro, thermal, tidal or nuclear. Barry likes that. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012

We have been there before - the NG dries up when the plants need it the most and must have some sort of backup - and it has been oil.

What would have been interesting to know is how this proposed natural gas powered electricity plant will be different from, i.e. cleaner than, the natural gas powered electricity plants built over the last 50 years.

As long as King Obama is in office, he and the EPA will do all they can to squash it, not to mention the jobs that it would create and the impact to the local economy. Jobs and a good economy is something that Obama and Chu don't want. After all, how can you have an argument for government control if people can make it on their own?

Now the greenies are attacking CNG on another front - saying NG is 10 times worse than Carbon Dioxide when it comes to being a GHG (Greenhouse Gas). The greenies will have us all living in sod houses without power, living an agrarian life - organic of course. Green is red.
